After two and a half months of research, creation, and preparation, the at premiered Johannes Wieland's to upstanding reception and critique. It makes you laugh, makes you wonder, makes you think, makes you cry and, as with all of Johannes's pieces, makes you reflect. This one in particular, on where you came from, how you got there, and where you might go.
For me, it was a stormy battle of failure, discovery and utter homesickness. Coupled with creative frustration and family illness, the process left me a mess. But, by the time premiere came around, one of my most favorite pieces had been created. When the curtain opens, and the UBahn is moving, there is a certain sense of me that I seem to regain. And with each performance, I'm beginning to understand a bit more about homeland and that mine comes with a stage, lights, costumes, makeup and the very first movement that begins a show.
