The Las Vegas Art Museum recently added two events to its 2008 exhibitions calendar: ‘Learning Display: Robert Smithson’ which will run June 11 to October 21, 2008 and ‘Tom Schiff’ which will run October 25 to November 30, 2008.

The Las Vegas Art Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition Las Vegas Collects Contemporary presented by City National Bank. This exhibition features works of contemporary art on loan from Southern Nevada’s most important privately held fine art collections. Artists featured in the show include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Uta Barth, Dan Flavin, Andreas Gursky, Michael Heizer, Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Donald Judd, Jason Martin, Takashi Murakami, Ken Price, David Reed, Gerhard Richter, Ed Ruscha, Venske & Spänle, and Andy Warhol among others.

There are two upcoming lecture events at the LVAM. On March 13, 2008 at 6:30 pm, we will host an architecture lecture with Jim Richard of Richard + Bauer Studio in Phoenix, AZ. Then, on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 6:00 pm, Leah Ollman Lecture will discuss Victoria Gitman’s work. Her lecture is entitled ‘From Wow to Why: Some Thoughts on the Art of Victoria Gitman.’ Both events will be held in the MPR room at the LVAM.

In addition to the currently running (March 6 - April 22, 2007) _Prato Haggadah_ show, two new exhibitions open today at the LVAM: _Kaz Oshiro: Paintings and Works on Paper, 1999 - 2006_ and the _702 Series: Sush Machida Gaikotsu_. Both run April 13 - July 8, 2007.
